Carbon County court — guilty pleas

Ten defendants in pending criminal matters entered guilty pleas before Judge Joseph J. Matika on Friday in Carbon County court.

Tricia Marie Pryce, 41, of Lehighton, pleaded to two counts of retail theft in separate incidents. She was arrested on Nov. 3 and 5, 2016, by Mahoning Township police at the Walmart store. Pryce was placed in the Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on the first count but revoked when arrested again.

She was placed on probation for a year on both counts, running concurrently, and ordered to make restitution totaling $276.74 to Walmart, render 50 hours of community service and stay out of the store.

Daniel Thomas Opresko, 23, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of firearm prohibited. He was arrested on May 12, 2017, by state police at Lehighton after troopers responded to a residence in East Penn Township concerning a possible domestic incident. Opresko was found with a 9 mm handgun, which he was prohibited to have because of an active protection from abuse order against him.

Matika placed him on probation for 18 months and ordered he get a mental health evaluation and render 75 hours of community service.

Dawn M. Morgan, 51, of Mays Landing, New Jersey, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property. She was arrested on March 13, 2017, by Weatherly police for her part in a Ponzi scheme in which a female borough resident was the victim.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to make restitution to the victim for $3,055 and have no contact with the victim.

Tammy M. Mitchell, 46, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of harassment, as a summary offense. She was arrested on Nov. 20, 2016, by Lansford police for an incident in the 400 block of East Abbott Street, with a female resident the victim. A charge of simple assault was dropped in a plea bargain.

She was fined $300 and ordered to pay restitution of $210.

Eron Lance Henry, 48, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of harassment, as a summary offense. He was arrested on Oct. 23, 2017, by Lansford police. A charge of simple assault was dropped in a plea bargain.

He was sentenced to serve 15 to 31 days in jail with credit for 31 days already served and paroled.

Colt Lee Snyder, 35, of Drums, Luzerne County, pleaded to one count of receiving stolen property. He was arrested by Weatherly police for an incident in which jewelry was stolen from a female borough resident.

Matika placed him on probation for a year and ordered he make restitution of $150, render 50 hours of community service, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and have no contact with the victim.

Snyder is currently an inmate in the county prison. He will be released from there but will go to the Luzerne County prison, where he has other charges pending.

Robert D. Wieand, 36, of Lansford, pleaded to two summary offenses of disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. He was arrested on March 26, 2017, by Lansford police in the 300 block of West Snyder Avenue. A charge of theft was dropped in a plea bargain.

He was fined a total of $150.

Seth M. Krynock, 22, of Summit Hill, pleaded to one count of offensive weapon. He was arrested on April 3, 2016, by Lansford police in the area of West Lehigh Street. He had in his possession a stun gun. He was previously placed in the ARD program but was revoked for violating conditions.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.

Wendy Kaminitsky, 40, of Lansford, pleaded to one count of habitual offender. She was arrested following a traffic stop on Feb. 28, 2017, by Lansford police.

She was placed on probation for a year and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use and render 50 hours of community service.

She is currently an inmate in the county prison serving another sentence. The new sentence runs concurrent.

Thomas J. Reed, 28, of Hamburg, Berks County, pleaded to one count of firearms not to be carried without a license. He was arrested on April 21, 2017, by Weatherly police following a traffic stop along Hudsondale Street. He was found with a handgun in the vehicle and had no permit to have it.

He was placed on probation for a year and ordered to render 50 hours of community service.

Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
