Carbon County planning commission reviews proposals

The Carbon County Planning Commission reviewed 10 subdivision and land development plans this week.

The commission made recommendations on seven of the plans, which are sent to the municipalities for inclusion with their reviews.

They include:

• Kate E.M. Tercha, approval for a proposed subdivision at 1586 Mahoning Drive West, Mahoning Township. Plans call for subdividing 9.97 acres into three lots.

• Beltzville Bar and Grill, Jeffrey A. and Deanna M. Burger, owners, conditional plan rejection for a proposed construction of a 1,762-square-foot roof over an existing 1,131-square-foot patio at 7435 Pohopoco Road, Towamensing Township.

• Robert Schramm, conditional plan rejection for a proposed subdivision on Route 209 in Towamensing Township. Plans call for subdividing 7.9784 acres into five lots.

• John J. Vanwart Jr., plan approval for a proposed subdivision at 678 Old Stage Road, Towamensing Trails, Section 3, Penn Forest Township. Plans call for combining two lots to create a new 0.345-acre lot.

• Stanley J. and Cindy D. Cordova received conditional plan approval for a proposed subdivision at 235 Nothstein Road, East Penn Township. Plans call for subdividing 12.359 acres into two lots.

• Kimberly Dee Komala and Pencor Services Inc. received conditional plan approval for a proposed subdivision at 341 Hillside Ave., Palmerton. Plans call for adding a 0.122-acre lot owned by Pencor to a 0.578-acre lot owned by Komala to create a new lot.

• Joseph J. Weiner and Joel Lesko received conditional plan rejection for a proposed subdivision on Pohopoco Drive, Towamensing Township. Plans call for subdividing 3.017 acres into two lots.

No recommendation

• Indian Mountain Lake Civic Association is proposing a land development at the intersection of Route 534 and Mountain Road in Penn Forest Township. Plans call for constructing a 5,888-square-foot maintenance building, equipment garage, salt and storage sheds and bulk storage areas. The commission’s comments were sent to Penn Forest Township and the surveyor/engineer responsible for the project for their discussion.

• Mazella Enterprises LLC is proposing constructing a 2,100-square-foot garage/storage building at 1404 Route 903 in Penn Forest Township. The commission’s comments were read and then sent to Penn Forest Township and the surveyor/engineer responsible for the project for their discussion.

• Summit Ridge, First Northern Bank and Trust, owners, located in Mahoning Township was reviewed because First Northern Bank and Trust took over ownership from Grant Homes. The commission states “we cannot recommend preliminary plan approval at this time due to unknown variables and issues unknown to the Carbon County Planning Commission.” The commission’s comments were read and then sent to Mahoning Township and the surveyor/engineer responsible for the project for their discussion.
