Carbon Democrats, Republicans fill committee positions

Seventy Republicans and 66 Democrats were elected to committee positions in their respective parties during the balloting on primary election day on May 15.

In most cases, the candidates were unopposed, whereas, in some election precincts, the victors won their positions via successful write-in votes.

In the Democratic Party, its registered voters elect one committeeman and one committeewoman in each of the 51 election districts.

The Republican Party bylaws call for its voters to elect committee members on an at-large-by-municipality basis, where each municipality is designated a particular number of committeeships.

In 45 other races yet to be decided, 12 winners on the Democratic side and 33 winners on the GOP side will be determined on Friday when the county conducts its tiebreaking process.

According to the official tabulations done by the Carbon County Board of Elections, the following people were elected to their positions:
