A Carbon County driver was killed in a one-vehicle crash on Wednesday in Lehigh County.
State police at Fogelsville identified the victim as David Shaver, 58, of Lansford.
According to troopers, Shaver was driving his car near the intersection of Werley’s Corner and Holben’s Valley roads in Weisenberg Township at 5:48 p.m. when his vehicle left the road and crashed into the front porch of the Werley’s Corner Hotel, a building reported to be 153 years old.
Shaver was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, where he was pronounced dead at 6:30 p.m.
The Lehigh County coroner’s office said an autopsy was performed Thursday, but additional investigation is needed to determine the cause of death.
