Carbon lowers dog adoption fee for veterans
Carbon County is hoping to pair a few veterans with some of its shelter dogs in November.
To entice more to visit the pups that are up for adoption, the county has slashed the adoption fee in half for all veterans looking to adopt, Commissioner Thomas J. Gerhard announced Thursday.
The adoption fee for anyone who served in the military will be $50 for the month of November instead of the normal $100.
Veterans interested in visiting the pups that are up for adoption can do so by coming in to the shelter at 63 Broad St., Nesquehoning, during public business hours, Tuesday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Calling ahead before stopping in is recommended in case shelter workers need to go out on a call.
For more information or questions, people can also call the shelter at 570-325-4828.
