A Carbon County man is facing charges after he made a false report to police.

State police at Fern Ridge said Andrew Mitchell, 32, of Albrightsville, on Sunday about 11:45 a.m. reported that a man impersonating a police officer detained him.

He said the man pretended to be a state trooper during a traffic stop and that his vehicle was searched for nearly three hours while in Chestnuthill Township, in Monroe County.

Though an investigation it was determined no such traffic stop had occurred. Mitchell eventually admitted that he made up the events as he was spending time with a woman and did not want his fiancee to find out after she was unable to locate him during the time frame involved.

A charge of false report to law enforcement has been filed against Mitchell.
