Carbon woman gets prison term for drug dealing
A Carbon County woman was sentenced to a county prison term on Thursday afternoon after previously admitting to a drug dealing charge.
Melissa Suzanne Rahn, 29, of Parryville, was sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to serve four to 18 months in prison on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance, heroin.
Rahn was arrested on Jan. 23, 2017, after she sold 10 packets of heroin to a confidential informant working for the state Attorney General’s office and the county drug task force.
Defense attorney Robert A. Saurman said Rahn was pushed into drug addiction by her boyfriend, who is also an addict.
Rahn claimed she sold to the informant to get money for her boyfriend, who was in prison at the time.
Nanovic said the police report indicated that the sale was made at her residence and her four children were present in the home at the time of the sale. He also said it was not the first sale she had made.
“The bottom line is you were dealing heroin for three months,” Nanovic said. He also said he was not impressed by the statement that she sold drugs to get money for her jailed boyfriend.
In addition to the prison term, Nanovic ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use, supply a DNA sample, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 monthly supervision fee while on parole.
Nanovic said he would allow her to serve the time on consecutive weekends because of the care for her four children. She will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on Aug. 10. She was given credit for two days spent in jail on the charge.

There are meth heads, pill poppers, junkies, rapists, pedos, wife beaters and alcoholics working in every dimension of the criminal justice system. What makes them any different? If you're reading this and from Carbon you probably know some. Yet they simply don't get charged and their brethren help cover up the crimes, charges get dropped or reduced to something that wont affect their jobs. It should make you sick if you know. If you're friends with these pricks don't suck their turd cutters thinking they will ever help you because they won't. You're not one of them and they're afraid you will tell. They might even imply that they did pull some strings and right before the clock runs out you will see the truth.
I could be blowing smoke up your chute or I could be telling you what I have experienced. That's for you to decide. If you're smart you will know what's right.
