Center receives grant to improve gym accessibility

The Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living continues to work toward its goal of creating more opportunities for persons with disabilities in all areas of fitness and health.

The center recently received a grant from the Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council.

The new Fitness and Health Project grant will allow the center to improve the accessibility and inclusivity of local gyms and recreation centers.

LVCIL is a registered nonprofit organization that provides services for people with all types of disabilities living in Lehigh, Northampton, Carbon and Monroe counties.

The nonprofit is one of 18 Centers for Independent Living in Pennsylvania and is governed, managed and staffed by people with disabilities.

The organization will continue to empower people with disabilities to achieve independence and live their dreams.
