St. Luke’s University Health Network and their food service provider, Metz Culinary Management, gave back to the community this past weekend at the Lehighton Downtown Initiative Farmers Market.

At the July 20 event, St. Luke’s made a charitable donation to the community, while Metz chefs orchestrated a healthy cooking demonstration that featured locally grown and sourced produce and meats plucked straight from the farmers market fare.

Executive chefs Chris Lapallo (St. Luke’s Miners Campus) and Antonio Inzillo (St. Luke’s Gnaden Huetten Campus) led a community audience of 40 through the market to collect ingredients and meet with local farmers manning each stand.

The chefs then returned to the St. Luke’s booth to prepare and share flank steak, corn salsa and cabbage taco.
