Chestnuthill gets $1M for emergency facility
Chestnuthill Township has been awarded a $1 million state grant that will go toward construction of a new shared emergency services facility, Rep. Jack Rader (R-Monroe) announced today. Rader played a key role in securing the funding through Pennsylvania’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program.
“I wholeheartedly support this project, which is vital to maintaining adequate emergency services in the western region of Monroe County, and am pleased it was approved for funding,” said Rader. “This new facility will centrally locate emergency services in the area, housing the West End fire and ambulance companies, as well as serve as a regional emergency operations center for Chestnuthill, Eldred, Hamilton, Jackson, Polk and Ross townships.”
Plans call for the $5.75 million, two-story facility to be built on nearly eight acres at the intersection of Fire House Lane and Route 715, which is an ideal location for efficient response times.
RACP is a Commonwealth grant program administered by the Office of the Budget for the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic and historical improvement projects with a focus on job creation.
