Tyler Fette, 18, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout on March 3.

The Chestnuthill Township Board of Supervisors recognized Fette’s achievements at a meeting this month.

His Eagle Service Project was to replace the steps at the Chestnuthill Township Park Building.

Fette’s service renovations at the Chestnuthill Township Park building began May 2019. The proposal included dismantling the old entrance steps, installing new steps, repainting the stair rails, and some landscaping. This project was meant to give back to the community through self-sufficient resourcefulness.

“In the spring of last year I took apart the steps at the township building with the help of scout leaders and other Scouts. We took apart the steps and re-sanded the old railings down and repainted them,” Fette said.

“We started in the middle of May and ended mid-June. I fundraised $564 total for supplies costs. The rest of the money was donated to Chestnuthill Township,” Fette said.

The resolution 2020-03, which recognizes Fette’s status as an Eagle Scout, was approved during Chestnuthill Supervisors meeting. Carl Gould II made the following statement:

“Chestnuthill Township recognizes the importance of the Boy Scouts of America and whereas the rank of Eagle Scout is achieved through hard work, motivation, and discipline, and whereas Tyler Fette has brought honor to his family, Scout troop, and community by attaining the rank of Eagle Scout.”

The completion of the Eagle Scout Project has been a mandatory requirement of all Life Scouts across the country since 1927 in order to advance to the rank of Eagle Scout. The objective of every Eagle Project is to contribute to a Scout’s community through thoughtful planning and demonstrated leadership.
