Coaldale council appoints new treasurer

Coaldale Borough Council voted on Tuesday night to appoint Lacey Gonzalez as treasurer for the borough. Gonzalez, a local entrepreneur who heads her own accounting business, was the only applicant for the position.

Council members were very pleased with her application, commending her intelligence and work ethic.

Council President Angela Krapf said, “She is overly qualified.”

Council also approved a $1 pay increase for part-time snowplow drivers. They will now be making $15 an hour. Council also voted to hire three new part-time snowplow drivers.

In other news, council officially approved the tax levy ordinance, which will allow them to increase taxes by $1 million in 2020, a move that was initially passed in December 2019.

Council voted to renew membership in the NEPA Alliance, an agency that assists local governments by offering various services, such as trainings, state updates and help with applying for grants.
