Coaldale honors veterans at memorial service
The Coaldale United Veterans Organizations held its 2018 Memorial Day services Sunday afternoon at the Coaldale Complex.
Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Thomas M. Frendak was the main speaker. Frendak served on active duty Army for 23 years as an engineer officer. He is also a 1975 graduate of Panther Valley High School.
“It’s an honor to stand here today. The outpouring of support this community shows its veterans and hometown heroes is incredible,” Frendak said.
Also joining Frendak were Panther Valley students Noah Berk, who recited Logan’s General Order; Angelina Rabayda, who recited “In Flanders Field,” and Jacob Coomb, who recited the Gettysburg Address. Pastor Dan Meader of Coaldale United Methodist Church gave the invocation and benediction at the ceremony. The Panther Valley High School band and JROTC also performed and presented the colors at the ceremony.
