A Coaldale man who was just sentenced to a state prison term faces additional charges after he assaulted a Lansford man last month.

John M. Cambria-Raygoza, 32, faces charges of aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment, filed by Lansford police.

According to an affidavit filed by Lansford police, on Sept. 20, officers were called to St. Luke’s Miners campus in Coaldale for a report of an assault.

The victim was being treated in the emergency department for facial wounds and told police he was walking alone in the 300 block of West Bertsch Street on Sept. 16 when Cambria-Raygoza got out of a vehicle and approached him. He then struck in several times in the face.

The victim said he tried to escape by running into the Lansford Borough Street Department building and remained there until Cambria-Raygoza left the area.

Police reported the victim’s injuries were severe and included a broken jaw bone and black eye that was swollen.

Due to his injuries, the victim was transported to St. Luke’s Bethlehem.

Cambria-Raygoza, who was sentenced to serve 14 to 60 months in a state correctional institution last week by Carbon County Judge Steven R. Serfass after pleading guilty to drug-dealing charges, was arraigned before District Judge Casimir Kosciolek and bail was set at $50,000.

He is currently serving his sentence in the drug case.
