Coaldale man evades police, faces charges

Published November 21. 2017 05:36AM

A Coaldale man wanted on an arrest warrant evaded Tamaqua police and now faces extra criminal charges.

Officers were called to the Five Points intersection at 2:16 a.m. on Nov. 5 for a disturbance.

As police arrived the parties split into groups and began walking away.

An officer was sure he recognized one of the men due to an outstanding warrant so he stopped him and called him by name, Devon Dillard. The man pretended to be confused, asking “who?”

When the officer approached Dillard ran south on Center Street then doubled back and disappeared in the area of Pine Street.

In addition to the warrant he now faces charges of escape and resisting arrest.

Anyone with information on Dillard, who is 22, is asked to contact police at 570-668-6100.
