Coaldale woman escapes I-78 crash injuries

Joanne E. Stephenson, 38, of Coaldale, escaped injuries in a one-car crash at 1:09 a.m. Feb. 13 on Interstate 78 in the City of Allentown.

State police at the Fogelsville said she was driving a 2007 Mazda eastbound during slippery roadway conditions when she lost control of the vehicle. It traveled in a northern direction, striking a concrete barrier, before traveling across the eastern lanes and leaving the roadway in a southern direction, striking a ditch and coming to rest in the snow-covered grassy area south of the eastbound roadway.

Police said the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Stephenson was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.
