Composting workshop to be held in Monroe
Composting is a great way to recycle your fruit and vegetables scraps, coffee grounds, eggshells, grass clippings, leaves and much, much more. Composting food waste will reduce waste, lower disposal costs, and save valuable landfill space.
The Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority and Pocono Heritage Land Trust will co-sponsor a 1-hour, backyard composting workshop in which participants will learn the “do’s and don’ts” of composting.
The workshop will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. on March 14 at Brodhead Creek Heritage Center, 1539 Cherry Lane Road, East Stroudsburg.
The Monroe County Municipal Waste Management Authority will also be holding five additional composting classes this year at its headquarters in Blakeslee, 183 Commercial Blvd. The classes will be held on April 18, May 16, June 13, Sept. 5, Oct. 3.
The cost is $25 per person and each participant will receive a backyard “Earth Machine” compost bin.
Preregistration is required due to the class size limit. To register, call 570-643-6100, email cparks@thewasteauthority.com or visit https://thewasteauthority.com/composting-classes.
