Concourse Club names Cronk a Guiding Star

Each year the Concourse Club of Palmerton honors five Guiding Stars from the Palmerton Area High School. The Guiding Stars are chosen by the high school guidance staff.

A Guiding Star must be a female student in the top 25 percent of the senior class, display leadership qualities in school activities, and participate in community programs. Each Guiding Star receives an engraved Guiding Star charm, a certificate, and a $100 cash award.

Ella Susanne Cronk was recognized at the Nov. 7 Concourse Club meeting at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Ella is the daughter of Anne Marie and John Cronk. She has a sister, Paige.

Ella’s guests at the meeting were her parents, grandmother, Susan Uhnak, and Mr. and Mrs. Tavella. Ella recognized her grandmother and her high school English teacher, Mrs. Tavella, as her guiding stars for their support and inspiration.

Ella’s hobbies include playing the clarinet, art, crafts, video games and programming.

Her school activities include being a member of the National Honor Society and playing varsity volleyball. She is a member of the marching band and concert band where she has played first chair clarinet for six years. Ella entertained the club by playing her clarinet.

Ella is currently working on her Girl Scout gold award. She is creating a website with mental health information and resources for our community.

Ella plans to attend a four-year university to major in computer science. Her goal is to work for a major video game company.

The Concourse Club extends best wishes to Ella for continued success as she reaches for the stars and guides others.
