A Connecticut man died in a one-vehicle crash at 1:57 a.m. Sunday on Route 534 in Kidder Township.

Township police said Jair L. Bermudez, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said they were dispatched to the area of 4421 Route 534 for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving one vehicle with possible ejectment.

They said the investigation revealed Bermudez was driving at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the vehicle and it struck a stone wall and several trees on the side of the roadway.

Three passengers in the car — two 24-year-old women and an 8-year-old girl, all from Connecticut — sustained minor injuries and were transported to the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, for treatment.

Police said none of the occupants of the vehicle were ejected and all of them were wearing their seat belts.

Officers were assisted at the scene by volunteers from the Albrightsville Fire Company and Lake Harmony EMS.
