CARBONDALE, Pa. (AP) — A northeastern Pennsylvania coroner says a boat struck a teenager in the head after she fell out of it, causing her to drown.

Lackawanna County Coroner Tim Rowland says 17-year-old Leah Loomis drowned in Newton Lake on Tuesday. He ruled her death an accident.
Loomis was boating with friends on the lake near Carbondale when she fell off. She did not resurface.
Rowland told The (Scranton) Times-Tribune (http://bit.ly/2xPdoQg ) on Thursday that authorities don't know why she fell off the boat. State police and the Fish and Boat Commission are investigating.
Loomis was a senior cheerleader at Lakeland High School.
