Couple loses home in mudslide experiences insurance issues

Published February 20. 2018 08:39AM

JOHNSTOWN. (AP) — A Pennsylvania couple has lost their home in a mudslide, and they say their insurance company likely won't cover the damage.

Lynn Eash says she was inside her Johnstown home Friday when she heard a loud cracking noise. She ran outside with her three pet dogs as mud pushed her home 10 feet off its foundation.

Eash says she and her husband still cannot go inside the home. The couple can't retrieve their car, because it would cause their home to collapse completely.
The couple lost a son in 2007, and his remaining possessions are still inside the home.
The couple is currently staying with friends in the area.
The state Department of Transportation says Route 271 near the Eash's home will remain closed until geological experts assess the area.
