State police at Lehighton reported on two crashes investigated by troopers recently, both occurring in Monroe County.

A one-vehicle crash was reported at 11:31 p.m. on Aug. 20 along Fiddletown Road in Eldred Township. John R. Zito, 77, of Seminole, Florida, was operating a 2012 Volkswagen southbound near the intersection with Keystone Lane, when he lost control of the vehicle. Zito failed to negotiate a left turn going onto the berm and entering a ditch, striking soft dirt. The vehicle traveled forward in the ditch and then struck mud, where it came to rest.

Zito was treated at the scene by West End ambulance personnel. The vehicle had to be towed.

The second crash occurred about 1:39 p.m. on Aug. 22 along Meixsell Valley Road in Ross Township. Lauren E. Dileo, 23, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus westbound and driving too fast for conditions, troopers said. She approached another vehicle which was stopped attempting a left turn. Dileo applied the brakes on her vehicle and hit an embankment along the berm causing the Ford to roll over and overturn onto its roof in the westbound lane. It continued westward striking a tree and coming to rest on its roof facing north.

Dileo was not injured but the vehicle had to be towed.

Volunteers from West End ambulance and Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder Fire Company assisted at the scene.

Troopers cited Dileo for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
