Crews called to basement fire in Lehighton

Crews were called to a working basement fire in Lehighton at 6 p.m. Friday.

Lehighton fire department and Lehighton ALS were dispatched to 249 North 4th St in  for a reported dwelling fire.

When crews arrived on scene they discovered a working basement fire. After determining it was a working fire, they called for a second alarm which brought in Mahoning and Franklin township fire departments.

After some time on scene, Mahoning Valley rehab was dispatched to the scene. The crews extinguished the fire and the Red Cross was called to assist the families.
