Custody dispute lead to jail

A custody dispute in Tamaqua on Jan. 12 ended when one party was taken to jail on an outstanding warrant.

Police were contacted at 5:11 p.m. by a woman who said she was in Tamaqua to pick up her daughter, explaining it was her weekend to have custody. The child’s father, Samuel Snyder III, 45, of 62B Hunter St, was refusing to allow the daughter to leave.

Snyder told officers it was his weekend to have custody. Both Were told to contact their attorneys to iron out the issue.

In the meantime, officers conducted records checks on both parents. Snyder was found to have an outstanding arrest warrant.

He was committed to the Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville in lieu of $10,000 percentage bail.
