October 3, 1947 — Mike Gregus runs for one touchdown and throws for another to lead Coaldale to a convincing 24-0 victory over Tamaqua. Gregus opens the scoring in the first quarter when he tosses a 35-yard TD strike to Joe Rilo. The Tigers, coached by Tom Raymer, add to the lead in the second frame on touchdown runs by Bob Praskac (5 yards) and Charley Zlock (6 yards). The winners add an insurance tally in the final period when Gregus reaches the end zone on a 16-yard run. Coaldale finishes the contest with a lopsided 346-87 advantage in offensive yards.
