April 6, 1989 — Joe Gillespie tosses a two-hitter and strikes out 14 batters to lead Marian to a 4-2 victory over Minersville. Gillespie allows a pair of first-inning runs before settling down to throw six shutout frames. The hurler also contributes at the plate, collecting a double and scoring a run. Jeff Markosky finishes with three hits, one a double, an RBI and run scored for the Colts, coached by “Chink” Connely. Mark Hrebik adds a single, double and run scored, while Darrell Baranko delivers a two-run double.
