August 21, 1996 — Tamaqua opens its golf season with a 319-350 win over Jim Thorpe as three Blue Raiders tie for medalist honors. Chad Gustus, Greg Kruczek and Carl Searing all shoot 79s on the Split Rock Course to lead their team to victory. Tamaqua, coached by “Butch” Webb, also receives an 82 from Phil Paslawski. For the Olympians, Jarred Albert turns in a team-low 81 while George Monteleone cards an 88.
