February 27, 1970 — Lehighton’s Glenn Serfass and Barry Reed both gain wins to advance to the semifinal round of the District 11 wrestling championships. Serfass, competing at 145 pounds, captures his quartefinal victory by registering a pin of North Schuylkill’s Smith in a time of 2:28. Reed moves on in the tourney by earning a 2-1 decision over Panther Valley’s Sam Kitchko at 165 pounds.
