January 3, 1956 — Tom Boyle tallies a game-high 24 points to help Coaldale pull away from Weatherly down the stretch and gain a 78-65 Black Diamond League victory. The Tigers, coached by And Kalen, build a 13-point lead before the Wreckers rally to take a three-point advantage early in the fourth quarter. Boyle and Lou Gregus bring Coaldale back and lead the team to 29 points in the final frame. Gregus ends the contest with 14 points, as does Freddie West. The Tigers also receive 11 points from Joe Ozefovich. For Weatherly, Johnny Andrefsky hits for a team-high 22 points.
