It was only last July that the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company had dedicated two vehicles added to its fleet, one of them being a new mini-pumper and the other a refurbished pumper. Both of them were debt-free by the time they were dedicated.
This week, the fire company got another new vehicle, a 1983 Mack model tank truck, which cost $82,000. Agreeing to pick up the tab for the vehicle is the fire company’s auxiliary.
Willard Ahner, fire chief, said the purchase was made with a $30,000 down payment, $26,000 of that amount being furnished by the auxiliary. He said the auxiliary wants to make the payments for the vehicle.
