July 21, 1978 — Palmerton’s Phil McGarry catches a 33-yard touchdown pass from East Stroudsburg’s Todd Repsher to help the Centennial League gain a 17-6 victory over the Colonial League in the Pocono Mountain Jaycees Football Classic. McGarry also finishes the contest with 38 yards rushing on 13 attempts, while Lehighton’s Kim Snyder adds 19 yards on three carries. The winners, coached by former Palmerton mentor Bill Dukett, also receive a fumble recovery (which leads to a field goal) from Slatington’s Jon Andrews.
