June 28, 1985 — Times News area players play significant roles in helping the Suburban All-Stars shut out the City stars, 16-0, in the 15th annual Lehigh Valley LARC Football Classic. Lehighton’s Todd Steigerwalt intercepts a pass in the first quarter to set up the winning team’s first score — a field goal. Northern Lehigh’s Gary Bona recovers a fumble on a botched snap on a punt attempt to set up a touchdown, while Lehighton’s Scott Freeman completes an 11-play drive with a 2-yard TD run. Freeman ends the game with 52 yards rushing on eight carries. Other area athletes in the game include Lehighton’s Tom Keer and Doug Coombe, Palmerton’s Chad Shupp, Northwestern’s Todd Bennecoff, and Pleasant Valley’s Robert Scott.
