March 20, 1984 — Marian receives an outstanding overall performance from Diane Decker to lift the Fillies to a 66-41 victory over Bishop O’Hara in the second round of the Class 1A state playoffs. Decker finishes with a game-high 32 points, pulls down eight rebounds, and does most of the ballhandling in the fourth quarter when the team goes into its delay offense. Decker, who converts 18-of-22 free throws in the contest, tallies 13 of her points in the second quarter as Marian breaks open a close game. Maura Hydro contributes 13 points, while Mary Rose Delpero adds 11. The winners, coached by Elise Tolan, also receive eight from Gracia Perilli.
