September 10, 1971 — Northwestern’s defense forces seven turnovers and Mike Urdahl throws for 145 yards and a touchdown to lead the Tigers to a 20-0 shutout win over Pleasant Valley. Over half of those yards come on a 73-yard scoring strike to Dean Phillips in the second quarter. Joey House also reaches the end zone in the second frame, scoring on a 4-yard run. Northwestern adds an insurance tally in the fourth quarter when Urdahl’s 24-yard pass to House sets up a 1-yard TD run by Jim Fritzinger. Gary Christman recovers two fumbles on defense, while Pat Shipman adds a fumble recovery and interception.
