Deadline nears for absentee ballots
Carbon County officials want to remind voters who will not be in the county on Election Day to not wait until the deadline to return ballots.
The commissioners said the elections office has been seeing people not getting the absentee ballots back in time.
“Don’t wait,” Commissioner William O’Gurek said, noting that the deadline for absentee ballots is May 8. “Get the application into our office so we can get you a ballot and you can get it in. Don’t lose your chance to vote.”
People who will not physically be in Carbon County on May 15 can apply for an absentee ballot to cast their vote. Ballots can be either hand-delivered by that voter to the elections office at 76 Susquehanna St., Jim Thorpe, or mailed to the office.
