Deaths of two women investigated in Schuylkill

The bodies of two women were found inside their Butler Township, Schuylkill County, home on Thursday morning.

State police at Frackville said the bodies of Christine Moran, 54, and Josephine Kodis, 97, of 10 S. 5th St., were found by a township police officer who was making a welfare check about 11 a.m. Moran is Kodis’ niece, troopers said. The bodies were found in the living room area of the home.

The two were pronounced dead by a deputy county coroner. Troopers said an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death. Frackville troopers are being assisted by the state police forensic services unit.

No other information was released by troopers.
