Delaware County man charged with possession of marijuana

A Delaware County man has just been charged with possession of marijuana following a traffic stop in Carbon County.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Cpl. Larry McDaniel of the Pennsylvania State Police, Troop N-Fern Ridge:

McDaniel stopped a white 2012 Mitsubishi Galant going westbound on Interstate 80 in East Side Borough at 10:25 p.m. April 1.

The vehicle didn’t have functioning registration plate lights and had dark tint on the windows.

McDaniel talked to the driver and identified Francis Faragasso, 22, of Springfield, as the front seat passenger.

During a search of the vehicle, McDaniel saw a backpack which Faragasso said contained camera equipment.

When McDaniel asked Faragasso if he would open the lock on the bag, he said that the bag did not belong to him.

The driver also denied that the bag belonged to him and said that he is an “Uber driver” and sometimes people leave things in his vehicle.

McDaniel then opened the unsecured pocket of the bag and found a jar with a small amount of marijuana.

Faragasso fled the scene, running up the ramp to White Haven.

The driver was detained and placed in the rear of McDaniel’s car along with the backpack, and McDaniel drove up the ramp and located Faragasso.

The backpack contained two large vacuum sealed bags containing marijuana; 10 small jars containing marijuana; 50 small plastic vials containing marijuana and a bottle of suspected THC liquid.

Faragasso faces charges of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; marijuana-small amount personal use and use/possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is currently free in lieu of $50,000 bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Sept. 11 before District Judge Joseph D. Homanko Sr. of Weatherly.
