Details released in Kunkletown fatal crash

A 24-year-old Kunkletown man was killed Friday evening when a car attempted to turn in front of his motorcycle. State police did not name the man.

 

State police  at Lehighton said Richard Abbazio of Palmerton was traveling south  in a 1998 Inifiniti QX4 on Silver Springs Boulevard at 7:07 p.m. and the motorcyclist was driving  a 2003 Kawasaki Ninja 550 northbound. Abbazio attempted to turn left onto Borger Road.

 

The motorcycle continued another 40 feet. The driver was thrown off the motorcycle.

 

Abbazio was not injured.

 

The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene by the Monroe County Coroner’s office. Assisting state police at the scene were Polk, Kunkletown and Blue Ridge Hook and Ladder Fire companies. Palmerton and West End ambulance were also on scene.
