Domestic incident leads to charges

A domestic incident has led to charges being filed against a Monroe County man.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said officers responded to a residence along Country Place Drive in Coolbaugh Township about 10:41 p.m. on Aug. 12 for a domestic incident. On scene a woman was screaming and running towards the officers. She said her nephew, Tyrone Witherspoon Jr., 32, of Tobyhanna, choked and punched her. She also said Witherspoon pulled her hair and threw her against a car.

After an investigation police charged Witherspoon with strangulation, a felony, simple assault, a misdemeanor, and harassment, a summary. He was arraigned before a district judge and released on $1,500 unsecured bail.
