Doom and gloom

Published December 07. 2019 08:05AM

This letter is intended to “educate” everyone who is worried about the climate.

These headlines are from an article written by Myron Ebell and Steven Milloy: 1967 Salt Lake Tribune, “Dire famine forecast by 1975”; 1969, New York Times, “Everyone will disappear in a cloud of blue steam by 1989”; 1970, Boston Globe “Ice age by 2000”; 1971, Washington Post “New ice age coming”; 1974, The Guardian “New ice age coming fast”; 1974, Time “Another ice age?”; 1976, New York Times “The Cooling;” 1989, Associated Press “Rising seas to obliterate nations by 2000”; 2000, The Independent “Children just are not going to know what snow is”; 2001, Salon.com “N.Y. City’s west side highway will be under water by 2019”; 2008, Associated Press “NASA scientist — we’re toast”; 2008, Al Gore said the Arctic would be free of ice by 2013”; 2013, The Guardian “U.S. Navy predicts summer ice free Arctic by 2016.”

The “mad scientists” have been predicting doom and gloom for 50 years. I have not trusted the mainstream media since Jimmy Carter was president.

“Don’t worry, be happy.”

'Climate change' is big business and will continue to dominate the headlines because, unfortunately, There's a Sucker Born Every Minute.
I'm in agreement with you, Michael Rother. When I was in high school in the early '70's, with regard to the climate, all the talk was of a coming ice age in the not-too-distant future. Oops, guess we got that one wrong, because it apparently became the opposite, 'global warming.' That term then morphed into 'climate change.' Oops, we goofed again.

I don't buy into any of it. I do think we can agree that Nature is cyclical and unpredictable, like it or not, and labels are not necessary.
The Obama’s are buying a 14-million-dollar beachfront mansion in Martha’s Vineyard (sea level). They didn’t use The Union of Concerned Scientists, Realtors, that’s obvious. If they had any integrity, they’d have looked at inland mountain top views instead of exclusive shoreline property. Who stopped the rise of oceans?
Wait... $14M ?
Have the Obama’s reached that point where they’ve made enough money?
Ha Ha Ha Ha
Sea levels aren’t projected to reach the house until after 2100. I like that the wealthy and influential have a chip in the game and are personally invested in reversing or slowing climate change.
Are you talking about the Obama who called out the "fat cat bankers," blaming them and their greed for the Great Recession, and complaining about their outsize pay and bonuses?
The same elite snob who self-righteously sneered at those who made their wealth by producing actual products?
Like Chavez, Obama lived in luxury and expected the people to live in squalor.
But hey, the whole filthy slimey Democratic Party is managed by out-of-touch elites who don't understand or care about the concerns of ordinary Americans.
I can honestly say of him and his amassed wealth from the people... You didn't build that!
This is America, Obama is entitled to earn wealth if he worked for it and he did. People on both sides of the aisle were critical of how the banking industry behaved prior to the great recession and in fact their executive’s actions have become teaching points in business schools.

Obama has accomplished far more than trump in his lifetime and schools be compensated.
Hey Joe... Is this "Joe" actually Joe Biden?
Joe...
View this, it's real news.

As for Obama's accomplishments? Are you crazy?
The Choom Gang leader is a phony community organizer. Heck, we never heard of such a thing until the Kenyan hit the scene.
Bwah ha ha ha a community organizer! Too funny!
He never built anything. He never really even voted as a weak kneed Senator. He's a nothing Joe!
