Downed wire causes fire in shed in Monroe
A downed power line is responsible for the loss of two structures in Hamilton township, Monroe county. The incident began at 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning when a large tree fell across power lines along Ruger Lane just south of Lower Cherry Valley Road.
The downed lines caused a power surge starting a fire in a large wooden storage shed filled with numerous items. As fire fighters were battling that blaze a second electrical fire started in a dwelling several hundred feet to the south.
With all of the apparatus jammed into the one lane narrow earth driveway firemen had to drag lines to the second fire. The dwelling and shed were both a total loss.
