Driver is cited after Polk Township crash

Published March 17. 2018 09:20AM

State police at the Lehighton barracks said a driver was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a mishap at 12:37 p.m. March 7 on Route 209, Interchange Road, in Polk Township.

Police did not reveal the name of the driver of the 2007 Mercedes-Benz, but said the operator was traveling too fast for conditions, which included a snow-covered roadway.

Police said the vehicle left the southbound lane of travel and entered the yard area of a private property, coming to rest facing south. Police said the property sustained minor damages that included ruts in the grass.

The vehicle needed to be towed away, police said.
