Driver hits bear in I-80 work zone

State police at Fern Ridge reported investigating a one-vehicle crash about 8:18 a.m. on June 19 along Interstate 80 in Kidder Township, Carbon County.

Troopers said Ryan C. Dettrey, 23, of Quakertown, was driving a 2017 Nissan Altima westbound in a active work zone. A bear entered the road along the left shoulder in front of Dettrey. The front end of the Altima struck the bear.

Dettrey and his passenger, Gloria A. McGuire, 63, of Doylestown, were not injured. The vehicle had to be towed.
