Published June 25. 2019 05:32AM

A driver was jailed on Monday after he led police on a high-speed chase in Schuylkill County.

State police at Frackville said a Troop L PACE (ProActive Criminal Enforcement) team observed a motorcycle being operated southbound on the Gold Star Highway, just south of Shenandoah, in Mahanoy Township, about 12:46 p.m.

Troopers attempted a vehicle stop but the driver sped away. A chase then continued southbound through Frackville and other communities at a high rate speed and into Pottsville where the cyclist was stopped at a roadblock set up by city police at the intersection of Route 61 and Arch Street.

The driver was identified as Jose Montero, no age or address given. He was arraigned before District Judge Anthony Kilker, of Shenandoah, and committed to the county prison in Pottsville after failing to post $25,000 straight cash bail.

Assisting troopers were police from Pottsville and Frackville.
