Coaldale Police released information on recent drug-related cases.

A call for an unwanted person led to police filing charges against a West Penn Township man.

Officers were contacted by West Lehigh Street residents asking for help in evicting a nephew of one of the residents. They wanted him out of the house due to suspected drug activity.

That nephew was Daniel Curran, 21, of Mill Drive, Tamaqua.

Curran was sleeping when officers arrived. He woke up and was told he had to leave. Retrieved from under the mattress were two hypodermic needles and 25 empty wax baggies.

He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and released to his grandparents.

Stacey Ann Scott, 40, of Hazleton, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia after police received a call about suspected drug activity on Fifth Street in the borough. Police went to the scene and found Scott and a man. When asked for identification, she began rummaging through her purse. The officer noted what appeared to be several weapons in the bag. Scott admitted to having several knives in the purse and agreed to allow officers to conduct a search.

In addition to the knives, items discovered in the bag included three grams of methamphetamine, two bags of suspected heroin, a scale and a glass pipe.
