East Penn OKs plans for Dollar General

Board of Supervisors at the East Penn Township meeting approved land development and minor subdivision of lot line adjustment, parcel and consolidation on the proposed construction of a 9,100-square-foot retail building located along the north side of West Lizard Creek Road (Route 895) including parking areas and driveway.

The building will be a Dollar General.

In other business

• The zoning officer will issue another violation notice for an unregistered vehicle to a property owner on West Lizard Creek Road. A judgment fine was issued in January which hasn’t be paid — this will be transferred to Court of Common Pleas.

• A complaint was filed regarding an office trailer that was believed to be inhabited without permits or septic systems. The zoning officer was authorized to inspect property. The owner has 60 days to remove trailers from property.

• The board approved electronic recycling for the township. A scheduled time will be arranged at a future date.

• Permission was granted for the USDA to treat East Penn municipal property the for agricultural threat of the spotted lanternfly. USDA employees and licensed contractors will apply herbicides/insecticides to possible infested trees.

• The purchase of CPR/AED/First Aid training class was approved. The class holds 12 people, and a certificate will be given to those who pass. The cost is $715.50.

• Gary Kuehner appointed Jillyan Sterling as township manager. The board approved.
