East Penn Township
East Penn Township discussed the following matters this week:
• The township is dealing with property owners on Berger Creek Road in East Penn Township, who have trucks parked on the grass.
The case was heard in court and the supervisors said they would consider a settlement if the property was cleaned up and violations were corrected.
• The township has adopted a sexual harassment policy, which applies to all elected and appointed officials and is required by insurance.
The board instructed the East Penn Township Volunteer Fire Company to adopt the policy, as well. Failure to adopt the policy could result in loss of fees paid by East Penn Township to the fire company since it will put them in violation of their insurer.
• The board reviewed plans for the renovation of the community center. In addition to renovations for the whole community center, the men’s toilet is in need of repair and three options were discussed.
• The recreation board will hold its annual Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. on April 11. Egg coloring will take place the Wednesday before at 6 p.m. at the playground.
• Electronic recycling will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 22.
• The Bowmanstown-Parryville Lions Club will host a Chinese auction at its annual Block Shoot on April 19 at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club. Donations for the raffle are greatly appreciated. All proceeds from the Chinese Auction will be donated to the East Penn Volunteer Fire Company.
The East Penn Township road crew will begin daylight saving hours on April 1.
