Chopper works atop 90-ft utility poles in Hometown
An unidentified pilot carefully maneuvers his helicopter around dangerous cables, ropes and pulleys atop a 90-foot monopole Thursday afternoon on Cumberland Avenue in Hometown. According to safety manager Jim Tomaseski of PAR Electrical Contractors, the process is part of a PPL network upgrade in which old steel lattice structures are being removed and replaced by more than 50 towering monopoles in the Tamaqua area region extending from Rush Township to Hauto.
