Effort man, 22, fatally shot in Chestnuthill

An Effort man was shot and killed Wednesday night and two others were wounded.

State police at Fern Ridge said troopers were dispatched to a residence on Silver Maple Road in the Sun Valley section of Chestnuthill Township just after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday for a report of a shooting.

Police said Dylan Beinert, 22, was found dead. Two other people were critically injured during the shooting and were transported to Lehigh Valley Pocono Hospital for treatment.

Beinert was a 2015 graduate of Pleasant Valley High School. According to social media, he attended Northampton Community College and was employed at Weis Market.

Police said this appears to be an isolated incident with no apparent threat to the public.

According to scanner transmissions overnight, police were looking for a silver or gray SUV or Crossover occupied by four people, believed to be armed.

The Troop N Major Case Team is actively investigating this incident along with the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office.
