An Effort man is facing multiple charges filed against him by state police at Fern Ridge after he attempted to flee police upon their efforts to stop him for a Motor Vehicle Code violation.

Scott Henry Storm, 46, of the 1700 block of Upper Valley Road, is facing charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, resisting arrest, fleeing or attempting to elude police, driving while his operator’s license is suspended or revoked, careless driving and reckless driving.

Police said they attempted to pull over Storm in a Pontiac Grand Am at 8:12 p.m. Oct. 22 on Bluegrass Lane in Chestnuthill Township, but the man tried to get away from officers by driving on Jonas and Valley roads. He drove the vehicle behind a residence and fled in foot into the woods, but the officer caught him and attempted to handcuff him. During the process, police said, Storm kept pulling away and resisted the officer, until another trooper arrived at the scene and helped gain control of Storm.

Police said he was taken into custody, during a search of the vehicle police found a black ashtray containing baggies containing suspected heroin residue.

Police said upon transporting Storm to the barracks, the man said he used heroin earlier in the day.
